Travel Tips!: That dreaded security...
Hello again!
Today I thought I'd share with you guys some tips on how to get through that sometimes(ok, all the time) dreaded security.
Having to untie and then retie your shoes is a huge pain in that security line. Not just for you, but also for the people around you... we've all been there, someone brings those tennis shoes and they must re-lace them up at the end of the line, holding us up, and making us go on crunch time... it's not fun. So, a simple way to solve this, get a pair of slip on shoes, but not flip flops or sandals! You do not want to walk on that dirty airport floor barefoot... yuck.
This one is a little harder to avoid , but not impossible. If you can, don't wear pants that you have to wear a belt with, sometimes the metal can turn off the detector, and then you're in for an extra scan, and/or pat down. Same goes with jewelry or anything else metal on your clothes. It is just a safe trick to go minus all that stuff. Also, it's a time saver. You don't have to take it off and then put it back on!
If you have a checked bag, a good idea is to just put all your liquids in there, then you don't have to worry if they are the right size(3oz or less in a carry-on bag), or if they'll be taken away. But, either way, carry-on or suitcase, REMEMBER to keep them INSIDE a plastic bag! You do not want them exploding!
If you're traveling with little ones, this tip is one you should maybe write down.
Before you get to security, take off your child's shoes, put their comfort item(blankies, pacifiers, stuffed animals, ect) inside their/your bag. It is a good idea to do this even before you get to the airport. This way, you're not fighting with to get the comfort items away through security, and they don't have to give them to a stranger.

Well, I hope y'all have a great day! And a much smoother trip next time you find yourself going through security :D

Carry-on Packing Tips!
Hello again!!
You guys ready for some packing tips??
Here is what to put, what not to put in that carry-on, and why.
To pack:
Because, if your suitcase gets lost, it may take some time for the people at the airport to find it. Maybe even a day... so it is always a good idea to pack a second outfit, and a swimsuit. A great way to pass the time while you're waiting for your luggage is to swim off those worries!
This is just a good thing to pack because plane rides can sometimes get a little boring(Yes... even with 19 people!) and you're going to want something to do.
Why not?Airplanes get get loud(especially if you happen to have 9 kids under ten just in your own group) so if you have a good pair of headphones that block out sound, you're set for however long that flight may be :)
Airplane rides are a great time to get writing or schoolwork done. You're pretty much stuck in a chair, with nothing to do.
TIP!! Bring more than one pen and more than one pencil(Yes, bring both if you plan on doing some kind of writing, postcards, letters, school, ect.) because it is pretty much a garentee that you'll loose one while you're on your vacay.
Sometimes food and/or drink costs mula on your airplane, and again, if your suitcase gets lost, you don't want to loose something like this.
When airplanes take off and land, your ears will probably pop a little, maybe even while you're just in the air. Gum is a great trick to help stop that. And trust me, your ears popping is NOT fun, it is painful. Also, food on airplanes sometimes costs money, so protein bars are a healthy little snack that you can enjoy: free of cost :)
Especially if you're traveling in a group, you'll want at least one of these devices. I've learned over past vacays that you NEVER want to be without a camera. The funniest, most memorable things always seem to happen when that little device is out of reach.
TIP!! Bring extra batteries!!!! It is a huge pain in the neck when your camera all of the sudden has an attitude prob and shuts off on you!!
NOT to Pack:
These are almost always a must-bring, but you shouldn't put them in a bag unless they have a case so they won't break. Just, keep them on your head... it is the safest place. :)
If you are going to pack liquids, they need to be 3oz. or less in your carry-on. Also, they need to be put in a plastic bag. They are okay to pack, but if you can, leave them in your suitcase.
Items bigger than a notebook just take up space, and if your bag gets a random, or not random check, things may not get put back like you had it, and your items may not all fit. Leave your bigger items(shoes, curling irons, large cameras, ect.) in your suitcase.
Well, I think that is it... have a great vacay!

SO, just who are we ... ?
We are a great big happy family,19 of us!
And, yes, we do travel all together!
And, yes, we do travel all together!
This all started years ago with Grandma Jan & Papa Ron, who used to travel with their three girls, Heather, Alli, and Amber. I guess they weren't grandparents back then. Together they traveled much of North and South America and a little bit of Europe. But that was back then and this is now ...
Those three girls grew up and now each have a family of their own. When you add in the son-in-laws and grandkids we now equal 19! Thats 8 adults and 11 kids!!! But that really has not slowed us down. We still manage to enjoy airports and airplanes, hotels and restaurants, boats, trains, and buses while on our way to great family destinations like Wailea Hawaii, Necochea Argentina, Grand Marais MN, Nassau Bahamas, Negril Jamaica and of course Disney World in Florida!!! We started this blog so family and friends can follow along and see all the fun (and sometimes not so fun) we have on our traveling adventures. So please sit down and fasten your seat belts ... we may experience some turbulence along the way. Because somedays you just can't predict what the kids (or the grandparents are going to act like)
